You'd be more than fine to do just Oregon on ~1k. If you want to do the full trail on ~3k the best thing you can do is train to hike fast/long days.It is actually one of your more important considerations. You should read up on sunscreen. Bullet points: SPF only refers to UVB protection. UVA are actually the ones that give you cancer. So higher SPF can actually come at LOWER protection (not too mention more unwanted chemicals on your body) SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays and SPF 50 blocks .
